Description

This January 15, 1945 Life magazine cover of George S Patton along with an article from the magazine showing soldiers moving up on St. Virth is signed by G S Patton Jr is mounted on a 15"x20" matboard.  George S. Patton was an excellent swordsman, horseman, and athlete who finished 5th in the pentathlon in the 1912 Olympics.  He once saved several children from drowning after they had fallen out of a boat into the ocean, escaped an assassination attempt in Sicily, and won a Purple Heart in the First World War.  A pistol with ivory handles became his hallmark and he was a part of the combat against Pancho Villa.  The 1974 film "Patton" won the Academy Award for best picture and best actor.  He is buried in Luxembourg along with soldiers who perished in the Battle of the Bulge, plus he believed in rebirth after death.
