Description

Fine quality tunic with absolutely NO signs of a breast eagle (denoting a conversion from an army tunic).  Insignia are all high quality and 100% original.  Size is about a US 40S, and there is no mothing, which is typical for this woven wool fabric.  Interior is nicely lined, and a Berlin tailor label is in the front left breast.  On the inside pocket is the remnant of a name tape … the first name has been ripped out, leaving only Schmidt and the year 1944.  Despite the fact that Schmidt is a VERY common German surname, the date being so late, plus the rank, plus weeding out units where cufftitles would have been worn, plus the fact that he’s a German Cross in Gold winner, may allow some fairly conclusive research to be done on this tunic.  Boards are expertly sewn in, as are the collar insignia, which are hand-sewn.  Please note: although there are no signs that this uniform has been altered or tampered with, I cannot guarantee this because I do not have the tunic’s full history since entrance into the collector world.  Still, 100% original Waffen-SS Jacket, 100% original insignia (quality insignia at that), and the name attribution.  Also note: the decorations are provided in this photo for illustrative purposes only and are not included in the sale.
