Description

This is an exceptionally well-preserved specimen of a rare weapon, complete with factory case and accessories.  The Tranter was a complex pistol manufactured in England.  It is a double-action revolver invented in the 1850s by William Tranter.  The firearm operates with a special dual-trigger mechanism - one rotates the cylinder and cocks the gun, and the second fires it.  The gun is in 97% or better condition with a beautiful factory high-polish blue finish, engraving in areas, a perfect grip.  Included are pistol caps, lubricating materials, loading tools, etc.

The serial number of this particular gun is in the range of those delivered to the US during the civil war, exclusively for use by the Confederacy.  Most imports were marked by the importer Hyde and Goodrich, which this one is not.  Whether or not this was imported to the US, or sold commercially in London or elsewhere, is not known.  Nevertheless, this is as close as you would come, without spending $10,000 to $15,000 for a Hyde and Goodrich model, of purchasing a firearm that could be considered a "Confederate gun."
