Exceptionally fine quality construction, featuring quality doeskin wool exterior.  Slight moth tracking to the nap only, on the top in a few places.  Insignia is the rarer metal eagle / brocade wreath combo.  Interior shows minor wear, with age to the underside of the bill.  Sweatband is fully intact, there is period tissue stuffed into the rim.  Sweat-shield is fully intact, with the name of the soldier (Meier) and his unit.  Interior is marked “Deustche Wertarbeit.”  Interior of sweatband is also marked with the unit that matches the name-paper.
