This is a Jewish star of the type worn not in the camps, but in the Ghettos and in Germany on civilian clothes, after the war began but before the Jewish population of Europe was funneled into actual death camps subsequent to the Wansee conference.  While color and materials vary ever so slightly from example to example, the print itself is almost always identical.  This is from a set of stars that came out of Germany proper from a book dealer in the late 1990s.  You seem them from time to time offered for sale, and I was fortunate enough to purchase a small quantity of them.  They are printed using a printing block onto yellow-dyed linen.
