Description

Prussian 171st Infantry Regiment Enlisted Man Model 1915 with numbered field cover.  The 171st Regiment was the Ober Elsass Regt.(Alsacian) regiment stationed in Colmar.  Black Lacquered Helmet body in very fine condition. Very good form and firm stitching. Model 1915 Grey trim with the Bayonet type spike top.  Prussian Line Regiments frontplate with both original leather straps to hold it. No extra holes. Inside leather liner is dry and age.  Several of the tabs have been damaged. and supple.  Complete with original leather chinstrap and both Cockades.  Cockades are reversed in position on helmet.   Back visor and interior of helmet bell have numerous ink stamps that are no longer legible. Complete with original light brown linen Enlisted style field cover.  The front of cloth cover was stenciled with the unit number "171".  The ink stencil has significantly faded with age.  Interior has hooks to fit over edges of helmet visors.  Great original WWI Enlisted Man combat helmet and cover.  Hard to find in today's marketplace.  Rare War model with numbered cover.
