Description
Visor cap for a Jäger Schützen Officer features a field grey very fine wool top, green wool piping, and green wool band. Black leather visor is undamaged. Black/white/red officer's cockade and blue centered (painted) lower cockade. On the cap band, a scarce Edelweiß with superimposed Bavarian crown is attached. There is some question in collector circles as to whether the insignia was used by Jäger or Schützen personnel or by a Freikorps. The issue does not appear to have been resolved but it is an uncommon insignia. The polished cotton lining shows only a size stamp "58". Sweatband is complete. The cap retains its original shape and shows only normal age and handling.
