1941 dated combat tunic and breeches for an Army Artillery Gun Layer Unteroffizier. The field grey combat wool tunic has a dark green stand and fall collar in the style of the M1936 tunic. Aluminum woven Tresse around the collar and shoulder straps with 2 slides on each shoulder strap. The collar tabs are subdued pattern. Breast eagle is aluminum flat wire on dark green wool. The sleeve badge for Artillery Gun Layer is mounted on the left sleeve as is the Demjansk shield. The shield is mounted on an olive wool oval and hand stitched to the upper left sleeve. Ribbons for the 1939 Iron Cross II. Class and Russian Front medal are sewn through the button hole. Mounted on the left breast pocket is a Wound Badge in Black, which shows wear to the black finish. A green braided lanyard with whistle is attached to the right breast pocket. The tunic shows the expected wear to the collar and loss of the nap due to being field worn. The interior is partially lined with dark tan cotton with size and maker's marking. The lining fabric shows some tears and wear from being worn. The breeches are also made from field grey combat wool with leather leg and seat protection. Buttoned calves and pockets. A waist adjustment strap with buckle is mounted at the center of the back of the breeches. A period safety pin is pinned through the adjustment strap. The breeches also show wear from use. Combat uniforms have aways been difficult to find, and a set like this to a decorated NCO is certainly a scarcity on the market!
