A scarce example of the type 2 NSKK crash helmet/motorcycle helmet made by one of the top headgear makers. The helmet is the Vulcan-Fiber type with black finished exterior. The type 2 NSKK eagle helmet plate shows corrosion due to the zinc alloy construction. The leather covered bumpers show some rubbing, with the majority of the black finish worn to brown on the upper bumper pad. The leather neck guard and side flaps with ear covers are intact but a bit dry and show wear to the black finish. The lining is still bright and retains its laced tabs, one of which is marked '53' for the size. The lining is stamped with the 'Erel Fiber-Helm' logo in a diamond in silver. Interior top pad is still in place. The lining is also stamped 'M.Sp.Schule Rhd' (Motor Sport School Rhd, which likely stands for either Rheindalen/Mönchengladbach or Ruhrland). The helmet does not appear to have been worn very often judging by the lining. The side and neck flaps would have been folded in and so most of the age to the exterior has probably been from storage. Fine example by a top manufacturer.
