Description
A textbook example of a SS 12-Year Long Service Award in silver finished Tombak. Medal measures 37.95 mm x 38.14 mm. Housed in a rare 12-year box, and accompanied with a full-length gold-embroidered long service award ribbon. This example is in near mint condition. The silver medal itself can be "dipped" in coin cleaner or Tarnex which will brighten the medal without hurting the original finish. Most collectors and dealers do this to medals that are this nice, but we will leave it up to the new owner what to do with this piece. The SS long service awards were first introduced by A.H. on January 30, 1938, and according to predominant historian, Christopher Ailsby, the awards ceased to be awarded at the end of 1941.
