Description
Imperial German “Centennial” Celebration “Langen Kerls” Miter. The names “Langen Kerls” or “Potsdam Giants” were the Prussian infantry Regiment No 6, composed of taller-than-average soldiers. The regiment was founded in 1675 and dissolved in 1806 after the Prussian defeat by Napoleon. In 1897 Imperial Germany celebrated the 100 anniversary of the birth of Kaiser Wilhelm I. To celebrate this centennial, Prussian military units had special parades in the type of uniforms worn in 1797. This miter was made for such a parade. Beautifully made and correct in every detail. Miter is made of colored cloth with metal insignia in the pattern of 1800. The “Centennial” helmets are well known and popular collectors items.
