Model 1902 Army Officer's dress visor cap is constructed of fine quality dark blue wool with an outstanding hand embroidered bullion U.S. eagle and 2 rows of golden bullion trim. The center band of the headband was likely light blue for Infantry, but has faded due to age to nearly off-white. It shows some age/use browning. The black leather visor shows some age-related crazing. Gold chinstrap is attached with smooth-edged eagle buttons. The strap has come unsewn at one end, as can be seen in the photos, but it stays together by itself or it could be repaired with one or two tiny stitches, if desired. The interior is lined with black silk and is maker marked by Warnock on the top and on the 'Genuine Russia' leather sweatband. Some of the sweatband leather attachment stitching has deteriorated but the band stays in place. Fine example of an early U.S. Army visor cap.
