Description

This Chained SS Dagger is in near perfect condition.  Exterior fittings are all solid nickel, and show an even grey patina.  Black background color to the chain links and the center scabbard fittings is well preserved, as indicated in the photos.  Scabbard is dent-free, and retains over 98% of the original factory black paint, with only light chips in areas, and minor age crazing.  Grip is flawless.  Blade is the early variety, featuring fine lettering on the SS Motto.  Blade is near perfect with only very light runner marks present.  In a certain light, there appears to be a very faint shadow on the back of the blade, but it is impossible to photograph, and only visible at certain angles.  It really doesn't even show up to the naked eye 95% of the time, but I mention it only to be thorough.  Dagger is numbered 92999 on the lower cross guard reverse, and the reverse of the upper scabbard fitting bears a cursive hand-engraving that reads In Treue die SS Wache, XXX 10.1.38 (the XXX actually is a word I cannot decipher).  A dagger worthy of further research.
