Description

Custom tailored short dress jacket and trousers for the diplomatic corps or for Government Officials. The jacket is made of a high quality wool with gilt buttons and a superbly hand embroidered bullion 1938 pattern sleeve insignia in silver/aluminum for Pay Grades B5 and B6. The swastika and wreath show damage; possibly due to an attempt to de-nazify the insignia after the war. The shoulder boards are of the 1939 pattern with gilt and silver cording, silver eagle, and grey underlay. The aiguillette is of bright gilt bullion cording with gilt finished metal tips. Please note: the aiguillette tips don't appear to match the Army pattern tips as worn by the Diplomatic Corps or by Government Officials. The button chain tunic closure is still present. The lining is dark silk or imitation silk and retains its tailor label. The sleeve lining stitching, particularly under the arms, has broken. A couple of buttons have lost their gilt finish and are greying. The trousers are of matching dark wool with a light grey Tresse along the side seams. They appear to be unlabeled. The set has survived in excellent condition.
