German WWII NSFK steel helmet built on an original Austrian M18 helmet from WW1.  During the early years of the Third Reich, Germany refurbished and reissued World War I steel helmets, particularly the M1916, M1917, and M1918 models. These “transitional” helmets were often repainted and fitted with updated liners and Nazi-era insignia for use by the military and paramilitary organizations. They remained in service even after the introduction of the M1935 helmet, reflecting Germany’s rapid rearmament and continued reliance on Imperial-era equipment. This helmet features the original green finish in the interior.  The helmet has a blue lacquer overspray on top, with the large NSFK decal emblazoned on the front.  Minor rust and wear throughout.  Decal rates 95% with one rust area near the bottom of the decal.
