German WWII Kriegsmarine Blockade Runner Badge awarded to personnel serving on blockade-running vessels. The circular badge features a ship's bow breaking through a chain border, with a stylized eagle clutching a swastika flying above the vessel. Made of metal with a dark patina, the reverse is marked "Otto Placze," "Berlin," and dated "1941" with manufacturer code "A.G.M.K. 40." This badge recognized the hazardous service of merchant and naval crews attempting to breach Allied naval blockades. It was instituted in 1941 and worn on the left breast pocket of Kriegsmarine uniforms. The design symbolizes maritime endurance and the strategic importance of blockade running during the war.
