This is the third of 4 pieces acquired from the estate of a San Diego veteran.  It consists of a Katana of unknown vintage (if you know, please reach out).  Over ll blade length is 32 inches, with a 24 inch blade forward of the handle.  Blade is housed in very old wooden storage mounts (these are called shirasaya).  This makes me believe the blade. was old and special enough to be stored separately from the ornate mounts.  Definitely pre-dates 1900.
