Very interesting Japanese WW2 Infantry Helmet. Shows wear, and is missing the liner (but funny enough, the chin-strap is retained). What makes this helmet cool is the personalization on the BACK of the helmet.
The marking on the rear of the helmet reads 松本 (Matsumoto), a common Japanese surname meaning “pine tree origin.” The characters are hand-painted in a simple brush style and enclosed within a roughly drawn circle. During World War II, Japanese soldiers frequently marked their issued equipment with their names for identification purposes. These markings were typically applied in the field or during training. Below the name is what is mostly likely the soldier's ID number.
I do not know what the personalization does for the value of this helmet, so it's being offered at a very low starting bid. Let the market decide!
