This is a German Army officer's visor cap used during World War II. It belongs to the Heer, It is specifically designated for the artillery branch, as indicated by the red branch color. The front features the Wehrmacht eagle and a wreath with cockade insignia. This type of visor cap was worn by artillery officers throughout the European theater during the war. Condition is near perfect. ONLY detraction are some tiny moth nips to the piping on the back of the hat, beneath the saddle. This is a beautifully constructed EREL visor. Interior shows very minor soiling on sweatband. So this hat did NOT spend the war in a storage warehouse, but was actually worn and cared for.
