This rare accoutrement is seldom encountered, and is one of the rarer of the six styles of knots that were produced for various elements of the TeNo. The Technische Nothilfe (TeNo), or Technical Emergency Corps, was a German paramilitary organization originally formed after World War I to maintain essential utilities during strikes and civil unrest. Under the Nazi regime, it was absorbed into the state security apparatus and tasked with protecting and restoring critical infrastructure such as electricity, water, railways, and communications—especially in occupied territories. During the war it operated alongside police and SS units, becoming part of the broader machinery that sustained Germany’s military campaigns and occupation system.
