Early SA kepi is constructed of tricot wool in the earlier SA reddish brown color. The cap is piped in silver twist bullion cording and dates from prior to 1933. There were a number of leader ranks who wore the kepi with crown piping, without flap piping, and without the colored top--for detailed information, see Wim Saris' "Headgear of Hitler's Germany" volume 3. The water resistant crown lining has numerous splits to the fabric however other than these the kepi is in excellent condition. Rare to find SA Leaders' kepis!
