Quality specimen well preserved with no damage.  Light peppering of the exterior fittings with minor corrosion, and slight plating loss to the upper (smaller) cross guard.  Grip wood is fully intact with only minor wear.  Eagle and grip rune are properly inset.  Scabbard screws, pommel nut, and scabbard ball are all intact and damage free.  Paint is nearly flawless.  Blade shows later-period factory cross-grain, a deep motto etch, and the RZM code for the company of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co.  This SS dagger was produced during the RZM period, and was one of the later SS daggers issued - produced in 1938.  Although production continued throughout the war, the SS Service dagger saw a decline in production due to the uniform with which the service dagger was primarily worn - the black Allgemeine uniform - was discontinued for the most part, after the invasion of Poland.
