This museum copy was actually created in the 1960s, supposedly using some original parts or dies, for display purposes.  The hallmark of this vintage copy is that the fittings are all cast from 800 silver, as is the case with this piece.  The top and bottom pommel section is decorated with diamonds, the metal portions are 18 karat gold plated, and the shaft devices are mounted via pins through the artificial ivory.  This is an extraordinary specimen, the original being unobtainable as it is on display at West Point's museum in New York State.  Weighing in at over 2.5 pounds, this is without a doubt an extremely fine collectible in its own right.  An opportunity to own the best example obtainable.
